Good stuff
I bought these online taking a chance without trying them on. They're fine, comfortable and waterproof so far.
The sole is very thick almost platform like, took a little getting used to. I've read a few reviews saying they don't have great grip in the wet. I think that's probably true, I've not been on rocks but even on a wet pavement you can feel them slip a little. The Vibram sole is very intricate. I'm not sure just how long it will last. they are quite light but still heavier than Salomon trainers I've felt.

Some sizing advice for anyone else thinking about taking a chance and ordering online. I'm a pretty standard size 8 (42) maybe slightly wider than average width. With thin socks on the shoes are very comfortable but with thicker socks they are definitely tight. So if you are wider in the foot or intend to sue thicker walking socks you might well need to look for a 8.5 or even a 9.

Too big
I've worn various Berghaus walking / cross-country shoes over the years and it's a real annoyance to find that this new shoe, while marked with the same size I've always used (9.5), feels quite oversized - so be warned!
Also, the first few days of wearing were miserable - there's something that digs in to the top of the foot around the tongue. I never could figure out if it was the tongue itself or the body of the shoe. Did notice that there's a section of poorly designed over-stitching which can cause painful rubbing.
Fortunately, after a few days I stopped noticed the digging and they're reasonably comfortable to walk in - but need very tight lacing due to the oversize. No blood has been spillt or blisters appeared so I'm probably just a moaner. Haven't done proper hill-walking yet, so I might have to return and edit this review if I end up doing myself an injury ;)
Could someone tell me why Berghaus have to replace their shoe designs every other year? It's certainly...
