Great for shoe-destroying tarmac courts
I've owned 3 pairs of K-Swiss RS Defiers to date - they have easily the most hard-wearing soles of any tennis shoes I've tried. The tarmac courts that I play (quite badly) on destroy other tennis shoes within 6 months, but these last me around 12 months. I find that they give a good amount of shock cushioning, and a lot of lateral support, while remaining pretty comfortable after playing through the initial stiffness. They seem equally as effective on indoor carpet or plastic type courts.

I would have given them 5 stars, but for the following:
- In all 3 pairs that I've owned, the uppers leather tends to begin splitting where it joins with the sole either side of the widest part of my feet quite quickly - presumably because it's quite thick and inflexible at those points.
- They don't let your feet breathe much (as for most tennis shoes, really) so they get very hot and sweaty!

I bought these shoes for tennis having had 3 previous pairs.They are exceptionally comfortable and provide good grip.These shoes are extremely hard-wearing with the reinforcement material on the toe and heel standing up to abrasion from hard courts really well.
