The 978 is a rugged country walker designed to provide comfort, protection and stability to keen, recreational walkers. This mid-cut boot has been designed to provide added ankle support and is made from rich leather to aid support and comfort. Abzorb and C-CAP technologies ensure this shoe is built with impressive cushioning. The former provides and enhanced heel and forefoot shock absorption while the latter is responsible for supplying midsole cushioning and flexibility through a compression EVA midsole. The Ndurance rubber compound provides incredible durability in high wear areas of the heel and a Rockstop technology forms a flexible protective layer that protects feet from rocks and shock, minimising pressure and dispersing shock energy. For stability, the 978 can call upon a moulded TPU reinforcement that keeps your heel from kicking out from under your shoe and your foot from rolling over, as well as a TPU posting system to minimise rear foot movement.

OMG they are so comfy!!!
To start with I have to say that I have odd feet (not odd as in one points forwards and one points backwards, just unusual) - having had major surgery on both of my feet when I was younger I just seem to have developed unusual shaped feet that find most shoes painful in one way or another. To put it short, I really struggle with my shoes. I get blisters everywhere and anywhere, I can't walk in them, I go over on the ankles, I wear down the soles in weeks......arrrgghh!

Anyway, I have done two power walking marathons in my current walking shoes - the first time I got a blister on the bottom of one foot but thought they were very comfy and the next time I got enormous blisters on the other foot and damaged two of my toenails so badly that they have just fallen off......my comfy shoes turned out not so comfy at all.

So - I ordered these shoes this week as I am going to do (well attempt to do) the Nijmegen Marches (4 x 50k walks in 4 days) next month. ALL shoes I...

Not happy with this product
I normally wear a size 6 shoe, so I ordered a size 6.5 boot to allow for thicker socks. Much too small, so ordered a size 7. Length not too bad, but I have returned these boots as I don't think they would have been comfortable for walking any distance. The main problem is the cutaway style around the ankle, very uncomfortable, and not tall enough to give any support for walking/hiking. Very disappointed.
