What can I say? Brilliant, Brilliant shoes. Light, supple, protective - everything you need.

I moved to using these after using a pair of Adidas for the last few seasons and the difference is amazing. The Adidas had a rather thick heel which slightly impeded my front foot movement on the drive, and sometimes when coming down the track. They were also rather inflexible and had a real lack of "connection" with the wicket, if that makes sense. It seems that the Asics , however, have been designed first and foremost as a batting shoe so the heel is thinner (but still provides support) and the sole is much more flexible, allowing quicker foot movement.

Even though they have been designed primarily for batting, the shoe also works well in the field. No soreness experienced after a (rather lengthy) 50 overs on the first outing, and feel good when bowling - I'm a leggie so I can't say how well they work for pace bowlers).

All in all, well worth investing,...

Great for slight-moderate over-pronators
These shoes have been fantastic for me, I had my gait analysed and am a moderate over-pronator so need some but not too much cushioning. They support my feet well and are pretty light - I run quite a lot, did the London Marathon in them this year and they were perfect. Some of the other brands I tried were too narrow - I don't think I have wide feet, but if you have found other running shoes narrow then these could be an option.

But you really should know your running gait and try a pair on for fit, generally you go a size up to allow for expansion of hot feet.

Great fit and comfort but durability a bit suspect
I have owned two pairs of these trainers now. Other reviewers have covered the excellent fit and comfort of these shoes, and I couldn't agree more. Another big positive is the laces. It may seem like a detail, but once they're tied up, they stay tied up, which is worth something to me.

My concern is with the durability of the uppers. Despite 100% dry usage and reasonable care, the netting upper over the front of the foot looked pretty tired on the first pair after a few months. Okay, maybe that's acceptable in a sports shoe that actually gets used for sport. But the second pair deteriorated far more quickly, and now, after two month's wear, I'm going to have to get the needle and thread out to fix a hole, which is not really acceptable to me.

These are probably the best trainers I've ever owned, but I can't afford a new pair every two months, hence only 3 stars, sorry.

Nice tennis shoe. Always played in asics running shoes but thought I'd give these a go. They are slightly heavier than usual asics and slightly narrower. I'd advise if you are between sizes to go up a half not down. Good toe protection and hopefully sole will last longer than usual on tarmac courts.

I purchased these to replace my GT 2150's.

The 2150's were excellent for first wear and the GT 2160 is no different. Its lightweight and comfortable. I purchased the Deep Purple/Lilac as I have found the darker trainers still look good after a lot of wear.

I put a lot of miles into my running shoes and if these last half as long as the GT 2150 I will be very happy.
