Sizing for ASICS a bit inconsistent
I've had Asics trail shoes for the last four pairs of trainers. I find them very sturdy, particularly the Trabuco, and very good for a mixture of road and off-road running. Nice and chunky on the soles and superb cushioning. I am a supinator/neutral runner and these suit my gait.

Not that it is particularly important in a running shoe but I liked these because they are not a ridiculous colour - why do manufacturers assume that women want to wear pink, lilac or baby blue trainers?

The only trouble I find with ordering online without trying them on is that the sizes seem to vary - I have previously ordered Asics trainers of the same style in exactly the same size as a current pair but when they came they were clearly at least half a size smaller - despite being labelled the same size. These do seem very slightly smaller than my previous pair but not enough to warrant going up another size.

I love Trabuco 14 trail runners but the material has changed
I love the Asics Trabuco 14 Trail running shoes... In fact, I ordered this one on previous experience. It gives support and stability, they are super comfortable, and I loved the idea that the material was sturdy. In fact, nothing has changed except that the mesh material and the inner lining seems to be flimsier than before. I wish they returned to the earlier material which seemed to be more resistant, and Gore-tex-like. If I've given 4 stars, it's because of this.

Other than this, these are great running shoes for trail, or mixed asphalt/trail terrain which is what I'm using it for.

What can I say? Brilliant, Brilliant shoes. Light, supple, protective - everything you need.

I moved to using these after using a pair of Adidas for the last few seasons and the difference is amazing. The Adidas had a rather thick heel which slightly impeded my front foot movement on the drive, and sometimes when coming down the track. They were also rather inflexible and had a real lack of "connection" with the wicket, if that makes sense. It seems that the Asics , however, have been designed first and foremost as a batting shoe so the heel is thinner (but still provides support) and the sole is much more flexible, allowing quicker foot movement.

Even though they have been designed primarily for batting, the shoe also works well in the field. No soreness experienced after a (rather lengthy) 50 overs on the first outing, and feel good when bowling - I'm a leggie so I can't say how well they work for pace bowlers).

All in all, well worth investing,...

If you want a cricket shoe, this is the best

Great for slight-moderate over-pronators
These shoes have been fantastic for me, I had my gait analysed and am a moderate over-pronator so need some but not too much cushioning. They support my feet well and are pretty light - I run quite a lot, did the London Marathon in them this year and they were perfect. Some of the other brands I tried were too narrow - I don't think I have wide feet, but if you have found other running shoes narrow then these could be an option.

But you really should know your running gait and try a pair on for fit, generally you go a size up to allow for expansion of hot feet.

Great fit and comfort but durability a bit suspect
I have owned two pairs of these trainers now. Other reviewers have covered the excellent fit and comfort of these shoes, and I couldn't agree more. Another big positive is the laces. It may seem like a detail, but once they're tied up, they stay tied up, which is worth something to me.

My concern is with the durability of the uppers. Despite 100% dry usage and reasonable care, the netting upper over the front of the foot looked pretty tired on the first pair after a few months. Okay, maybe that's acceptable in a sports shoe that actually gets used for sport. But the second pair deteriorated far more quickly, and now, after two month's wear, I'm going to have to get the needle and thread out to fix a hole, which is not really acceptable to me.

These are probably the best trainers I've ever owned, but I can't afford a new pair every two months, hence only 3 stars, sorry.

I have been wearing the Asics Gel Nimbus since the Gel Nimbus 8 was released and the model has changed over the past few years. The model now has more gel pods for rear foot cushioning along with forefoot cushioning gel which are now better placed than they were in earlier versions and the (PHF) personal heel fit that has been introduced over the past couple of years is very innovative, the memory foam remembers the detail of my foot as the wearer and feels comfortable to my foot. The (IGS) Innovative Guidance System is great you don't get this on basic trainers and you know you are wearing a well made trainer that fits the foot correctly. I didn't like the lace style change on the last two versions as I found the shoe didn't fit the same but Asics this time around have solved this by straightening the lace back to a more central position. These trainers were recommended by a specialist for the arch support (even if I need to take the inner sole out and put my own in), durability and extra cushioning. At first I was confused about all the different models, what made it worse was the inconsistent naming of the same product by different retailers, (even within Amazon) so I rang Asics to clarify everything which was very useful. The trainers are so comfortable. The laces are a little short and the trainers may feel tight across the width at first but I know I will not buy another make.
