A New Running Experience
I have recently ditched my regular shoes designed with a massive heel for over pronation. I'm 100% sure this didn't help my technique and contributed to my hip injury. After 2 months off I decided to start back the bare foot/minimal shoe route and after lots of reading opted for the Bikilas for the days I need to wear protection.

A note on sizing, I usually wear a size 6 but ended up returning them for the next size down (5.5) which fitter better, the toe space was massive on the 6 and my there was a massive gap between by heel and the back.

Initially it's tricky guiding your feet in but after a few goes I became a pro at slotting the toes in, the Bikilas are extremely comfortable to walk and run in. I have read reports about people feeling every rut in the road but to be honest there is little feedback as the sole is pretty solid. This will not replace the barefoot experience which makes you run in a very different way, I have a suspicion by form is not perfect...

I was convinced by a friend to purchase a pair of the Vibram Fivefingers as a training aid when doing circuits and gym work. I ran a marathon in these
First of all I don't advocate barefoot running for everyone but it has revolutionized my running.

If you want serious minimalist then these are your babes
Doesn't get much better than this for the serious minimalist shoe user. These are outstanding for what they are designed for although I do still find it a little awkward to get all my toes into their respective toe pockets. Would actually prefer it if the toe area was just split into two sections, if any, to allow good feel and flexibility but with extra ease of fitting. Not cheap but these babes wear slowly and I see no reason why I can't get at least 1000 miles out of them and maybe much more - there's no midsole to break down so they are worn out only when they are actually worn through. Not for everyone though - they would break some types of foot.

Shoe heaven
I was told I should get some of these funky shoes for running, so I did.
Sizing wasnt too much of a problem, all I needed was a tape measure and a foot, entered it on the manufacurers website, and hey presto i knew what size to get... Basically was the same as my previous running shoes.
Just completed my first run, forgot about the recommendations for taking it easy to get used to them, and did a 5km run at 14kph, to be fair, they dont take much to get used to as they hug the feet really well, strange sensation first off having the toes separated, but it felt very natural on the run.
Would I recommend them? Yes.. Buy them now!
