Bought Another Pair they were that Good!
I love the Innov8 Roclite 390 Boots. Myself and a friends walk Munros every other weekend. I use a standard walking boot, and when i saw his Innov8 I first used to ridicule him calling them 'astronaut slippers'. After him convincing me they were the best boot he had ever worn i reluctantly purchased a pair. Now I am converted to Inno8 walking boots, and trail shoes. They are the lightest thing on your feet like walking in a really comfortable trainer without the usual ankle weight that a normal boot brings. I have had them over all sorts of terrain, and they are 100% waterproof.
I am converted like other walkers that these new lightweight boots can deal with all type of terrain, and the old myth about a heavy support walking boot is a must is lost forever. There are five of us walking and now four us us have these, and the new version. I like these that much I purchased a spare pair just in case.

Good shoe let down by weak lacing system
I bought a pair of these shoes in August 2011, and have worn them for 6 long walks(25m plus). The shoes are very comfy, excellent at keeping water out and have superb grip, even on steep, muddy slopes. They are also very light.

However the speed lacing loops are weak. One gave way after two walks, and a second after six. Also the stitching keeping the loops in place is coming away in several places. The lacing system will not last a year in my opinion and then the shoes will be useless. I wash my shoes after every walk, so I would question whether they are robust enough for muddy walking, which begs the question what sort of walking are they intended for? Clean water only?

If the lacing system could be improved, perhaps with a return to eyelets (what was wrong with them anyway?) the shoes would be great.

Not up to Inov8 standard
As a fan of Inov8 shoes I was hoping for the best from these 318's , but they fail to make the grade . They seem to have made the upper from a layer of Goretex covered by a layer of thin material that lets the water in and out . The Goretex may be waterproof , but as soon as water gets between the layers either it gets though the stitching or the pores of the Goretex get clogged by the film of water trapped beneath the outer layer so that it can't breath anymore and condensation quickly forms in cold conditions. Long wet grass and frosty days equals wet feet , not like the old 318's that were mega-snug in all weathers.

Inov8 Roclite 381 trail running shoes
This is a solid pair of fairly lightweight of trail shoes, more for the winter training. Grip is very good, Goretex uppers will keep water out to a certain extent but don't consider it waterproof. The sole feels rigid and thus far (couple of weeks into this purchase) provides a good grip and stability. I would not use this for road/concrete running as the sole doesn't look or is designed for that type, it look like it would wear down quickly but this just a theory but I bought this for the Trail and this is where it will stay.
The only downside to this, and other Inov8's I have had in the past is that the laces's tend to undo very easily, unless you double knot, In an ideal world a set of lock type laces system, especially considering what you're going to put the shoe through, would be the icing on the cake, hence 4/5 stars otherwise a well made Trail shoe.
A better review would be in about 4 months time when user has had time to fully run it into the ground.

great running shoes
I have arthritis in my feet so it is a real struggle to find light, breathable trainers that also provide great shock absorbency. These shoes do just that. I have worn them on shorter distances however (over 4 miles) and dont know how they would hold up over my longer run of 10 miles. Thats why I bought 2 different makes of shoe with the specific purpose of wearing these to run shorter distances. Great value for money!!!

excellent for tracks
I orienteer and find these great for trail running or running over firm hills where the more protruberant studs aren't needed. I find them extremely comfortable and also use them for hill walking if you don't need something waterproof.
A good trainer that is comfortable and light and midway between trainers and full hill running studs.

Fantastic off-road shoes!
The Inov8 Flyroc 310s were my first pair of trail running shoes. They are so comfortable, supportive and grippy - I cannot recall ever slipping in them even when running downhill on muddy grass or across wet rock. They are close fitting - I have narrow feet- and give a really good feel for the surface you are running on, yet have more cushioning underfoot than I expected. They offer reasonable protection for your heels and across your toes considering they are quite light and I think the soles have lasted well. Although obviously only the Gortex version is waterproof, the ordinary Flyrocs dry our quite quickly after a soaking. I've bought a second pair because they are so good.

Sole food!
These shoes are light as...really light an springy. Good traction and reasonable support, BUT... Inov8 uppers of this model and the X-Talon 190 tear. They rip on the upper toe box seal. Bramble roots, tough heather on fells will destroy these shoes and at
