Good pair of boots but not what I expected
I was looking for a pair of boots I could use for a training exercise in the military as my current ones are too small and cant yet replace them and these seemed great for the price. However when I received them I wasn't sure they're going to last very long. My first concern is the laces run through plastic eyelets and I fear they'll snap over time or if I tighten the laces too much. My other concern is the leather looks cheap in my opinion and someone commented me that they look like a pair of trainers. The toes are quite strong but not steel reinforced. Other than that they come packaged well, they come with a bag and spare laces. I have worn them for a while and they're very comfortable and look quite good. However I don't think I'll be using them on the military exercise as I don't think they'll withstand it. They'll be more suitable for use on my motorcycle or when I'm out walking.

Excellent Boots
I bought these boots for riding my motorcycle, I don't like the style of racing boots and just wanted something waterproof and practical. I looked at these and many others and chose these based on their description .. tough, hardwearing, waterproof and warm .. what else can a winter biker hope for.

They arrived within a couple of days, well packaged, brand new and with a boot bag and spare laces. I put them on and spent the evening wearing them to see if they were comfortable ... for about 4 hours and found them to be very comfy.

I wore them the next day .. -4 riding through derbyshire and my feet were warm for most of the journey, good so far. Several days later I got caught in a downpour, my feet remained dry. Walking in them is bliss, riding in them is comfy with plenety of feel for the levers and brakes. I just give them a wipe and spot of polish to keep them waterproof and looking like new.

Several weeks later, they are my favourite biking...

Solidly built and Very very very comfy.
I'm usually an 8.5 UK, but a size 8 in these fits perfectly- possibly as they are a wide fit. These are seriously comfy and needed no wearing in. Some boots seem to rub / chaff in the early days of wear, but I didn't find that with these. These are a mid weight boot, a good compromise for someone wanting durability without the bulkiness of some other types of boot.

Beware the deceptive tread
Dispatched and delivered quickly. But be warned: the shoes look like they have a good tread which you'd think would give excellent grip. This is not the case, as I have already found myself slipping in them on perfectly normal pavement-surfaces. Otherwise a perfectly good shoe, but if you're looking for good grip, look elsewhere.

Problem with Shoelaces
I bought the shoes on 20/07 and so far have walked about 50 miles in them. The shoes are very comfortable and they are waterproof. There is a problem with the laces though one has snapped and the other is showing signs of wear. The laces are rubbing where they pass through the eyelets and this is causing the lace to rapidly wear through - I think this is a design flaw in the shoe because they laces should not wear through after just 50 miles. I have emailed Hi-Tec uk to complain and look forward to their reply.

These are the best walking shoes I have had (and I am comparing stuff like merrell, berghaus, trespass, salomon, scarpa, brasher). Very Comfortable Winter Boots
These boots look great and appear to be well made, incorporating some nice styling details. They are extremely comfortable straight from the box. The `Adiprene' footbed gives superb cushioning and makes them a pleasure to walk in, whilst the knitted cuff and lining gives them a luxurious feel. Sizing is good although they are quite a wide fitting. They are waterproof as claimed, and the insulation certainly kept my feet warm during the recent freezing weather.
My only criticism of these boots would be that although they are described as hiking boots they are probably better suited for walking on relatively easy terrain as the sole is quite flexible and the boots don't provide adequate ankle support for serious hiking. I would regard them as very good urban winter boots with hiking boot styling and some limited `off-road' capability. Overall though I'm very happy with them, and they live up to Rockport's reputation for producing very comfortable footwear.
