Man enough for the job
I only started playing rugby 2 seasons ago, and this is my third set of boots. The first two were standard low-cut, soft-toe boots (Kooga & Gilbert) from high street stores. Both pairs eventually split across the sole at the ball of the foot, the second pair after just 6 matches. I think this is partly because I play front row and the boots take a lot of abuse and bending. I also receive a fair bit of stamping on the feet during the course of a match.
These boots are a massive step up. The hard toe protects against 90% of the stampage (yeah, it's a word) in rucks/mauls and the higher cut provides some welcome extra support in the scrum. The laces are a bit too long and don't stay put if you "double wrap" them round the sole, but this is easily solved with a new pair of laces or a pair of scissors. All in all, a great buy.

Brought these boots before Xmas, got them in time for the snow early jan 13. Wore them everyday and kept my feet dry. I would recommend these to the military, I'm army, they go perfect with the mtp.

I bought my Salomon boots as they came highly recomended, they were the most comfortable boots that I had ever worn, very light and giving good confidence on steep ground. A joy to wear all day with one pair of socks and great for hot weather walking in Crete, brilliant, would have awarded 5 stars. There is a but and it is a big one, they are falling apart after less than three years and they can not be repaired. The mid sole unit is de-naturing and crumbling away and as a result the sole and the uppers which are both in good condition are no longer joined together. A bit of digging about and it is obvious that the problem is not unique to me, LSR told me that it is common for this to happen and that they can not be repaired. I recieved a rude and unhelpfull response from Salomon UK, " they are out of guarantee, buy some new boots" and " you must have walked through some acid ". Good pair of boots but not what I expected
I was looking for a pair of boots I could use for a training exercise in the military as my current ones are too small and cant yet replace them and these seemed great for the price. However when I received them I wasn't sure they're going to last very long. My first concern is the laces run through plastic eyelets and I fear they'll snap over time or if I tighten the laces too much. My other concern is the leather looks cheap in my opinion and someone commented me that they look like a pair of trainers. The toes are quite strong but not steel reinforced. Other than that they come packaged well, they come with a bag and spare laces. I have worn them for a while and they're very comfortable and look quite good. However I don't think I'll be using them on the military exercise as I don't think they'll withstand it. They'll be more suitable for use on my motorcycle or when I'm out walking.

Excellent Boots
I bought these boots for riding my motorcycle, I don't like the style of racing boots and just wanted something waterproof and practical. I looked at these and many others and chose these based on their description .. tough, hardwearing, waterproof and warm .. what else can a winter biker hope for.

They arrived within a couple of days, well packaged, brand new and with a boot bag and spare laces. I put them on and spent the evening wearing them to see if they were comfortable ... for about 4 hours and found them to be very comfy.

I wore them the next day .. -4 riding through derbyshire and my feet were warm for most of the journey, good so far. Several days later I got caught in a downpour, my feet remained dry. Walking in them is bliss, riding in them is comfy with plenety of feel for the levers and brakes. I just give them a wipe and spot of polish to keep them waterproof and looking like new.

Several weeks later, they are my favourite biking...

Very Comfortable - But Beware of Grip in Ice/Wet
I have owned these boots now for 3 years, and not only are they the best constructed boots that I have ever owned....they are also the most comfortable. They have been well used on day hikes in the Lake District, Alpine snow, and coastal paths.
Construction is Leather and GoreTex breatheable fabric. The leather part of the upper is smooth with very few seam joins, and the join between fabric and leather is very well taped. I have waded through mud, snow and water up to the top of these boots and not once have they leaked. They have also been very easy to clean as I have no worries about brushing them under a running water supply. The breathability is first class and even my hot feet remain cosy dry and not overheated at all after a full day of walking.
I have not given them the full five stars for one reason only...the poor grip which the boots give over icy surfaces, and over wet rock. Dry conditions, snow or deep mud are fine, butI have little confidence in the grip...

so far so good
Only bought this today and they fit like a glove, feel great and good support al round. Still walking them in but so far so good.

Stylish and practical
I bought these for my fiancée for Christmas. They arrived in good time and were well packed. The boots are very well made with good quality leather and stitching. She expected some discomfort at first while she "wore them in", but no, they moulded to the shape of her feet almost straight away and are very comfortably even on longish walks (10 miles / 16 km plus). They have stood up to snow and mud with no ill effect. In fact she is hoping the cold weather will last so she can wear them for longer. They are warm, so you will not need extra socks. The only words of caution I will add is that whilst the leather is waterproof, the zip is not, so they are not suitable for wading in puddles or shallow streams if you want to keep dry feet. For really rough ground the soles are probably inadequate, but hey these are fashion boots not hunting or hiking boots.
Update after 3 months wear: Some weeks I think I will need to have them surgically removed. They have exceeded all...

These boots arrived quickly and were an instant hit. Comfortable, warm and waterproof, just what I wanted. I had concerns that the zip or the furry bit would leak water, but they are pretty waterproof. And the recent weather has given them a thorough testing.
